    Current Kenai Central High School students filled the Renee C. Henderson auditorium risers, in readiness to begin the 43rd Pops Concert, on May 6, 2014. Most people in the audience knew something special was planned, so when Dale Sandahl took to the stage, anticipation built.     Nearly 80 KPBSD high school students went to the hospital on Tuesday, February 26, 2014. Fortunately, this was not a critical incident, and no ambulances or triage teams were needed. Instead, the proactive teens were present on their own initiative to learn about the fastest growing career track in Alaska and the nation at Central Peninsula Hospital

    Homer High School invited South Peninsula Hospital (SPH) to participate in a job training program. Students Ian McCormick and Kaylee Alward will join SPH staff as working volunteers to learn valuable professional skills. Joining and assisting them are their two job coaches, Rhonda Owens and Kathie Baldwin.

    “The district is pleased with how well the roofing projects have gone over the past three summers. The good news for all the borough residents is that more school roof replacements than originally planned were completed with the bonded money,” said Steve Atwater, KPBSD superintendent. “Although roof replacement is not something that is always noticed by our community, this important building maintenance activity is critical for our schools.
